About Susan G. Komen
In San Diego, six women a day are diagnosed with breast cancer and unfortunately one woman a day passes away from this disease. However, we know early detection and effective treatment provide the best chance of survival from breast cancer. And that’s what our work at Susan G. Komen San Diego is all about. We are the only organization that studies San Diego County to identify the gaps in breast cancer care and the barriers to health access. We created San Diego’s only Breast Health Collaborative to ensure breast health professionals work together to bridge the gaps, identify best practices and provide a unified voice about the unmet needs of San Diego County. Komen San Diego’s work is about improving the law, changing systems, removing barriers and most importantly, elevating the women and men directly impacted by breast cancer. Komen San Diego provides free mammograms, biopsies, ultrasounds, care coordination, education and financial assistance for breast cancer patients’ most critical needs during treatment. Susan G. Komen is the largest nonprofit funder of breast cancer research outside of the U.S. government. Nearly 40 percent of our research investment is focused on metastatic disease and much of that investment has been awarded to scientists in San Diego. To learn more, visit www.komensandiego.org.

It's Triplets Day at Rancho Mesa
Author, Alyssa Burley, Client Services Coordinator, Rancho Mesa Insurance Services, Inc.
Tuesday, November 6, 2018 started off like any other day at Rancho Mesa. Co-workers said their morning hellos, while greeting each other with a smile.
However, it didn’t take very for an awkward pattern to develop. Not two, but three people showed up to the office wearing the same shirt!
Kevin Howard, Sam Clayton and Casey Craig were accidental triplets for the day. We think they secretly enjoyed the extra attention.

On Wednesday, October 17th, 2018, the San Diego Airport Authority hosted a “Meet the Primes” event at The Scottish Rite Center.
The event was designed to help contractors and vendors build their “business by forming relationships between [their] business and the Airport Authority, and obtain valuable resources,” according to the San Diego Airport Authority.
Rancho Mesa’s Andy Roberts did an excellent job educating contractors and subcontractors on what it takes to get a bonding program started. He also explained the steps they can take to increase their bonding capacity with a surety company once the program is put into place.
Rancho Mesa’s Kevin Howard was busy speaking to guests about the 2019 Experience Modification Formula changes which is important for contractors to understand if they plan on bidding work for the Airport Authority.
The San Diego Airport Authority has a very strict policy regarding experience modification acceptance. Contractors or vendors who would like to conduct work for the Airport Authority must have an experience modification of 1.00 or less, to stay eligible.
With the 2019 changes creating an entirely new formula, the questions were flying and Kevin invited guests to Rancho Mesa’s November 8th webinar that will educate viewers on the 2019 changes and how they will affect California employers.
For more information, register online for the November 8th, 2018 webinar.
